I took this photo at Bryce Canyon. I have no words to describe this view .... just amazing.

Springdale, a view and that river again

After the amazing drive through Zion National Park, we stayed at this Springhill Suites Marriott in Springdale, Utah. The view from the hotel was amazing. The photo to the right is from the hotel website.

We had dinner at a local burger place, then went to bed. After a very good nights rest, we awoke energized by the view. We took several photos before we headed south, including the photo above. Teresa captured this shot just before we drove off. I love this photo. Water always makes a photo better, but the overall scene is so cool.

This is the North Fork Virgin River. We spend so much of our drive crisscrossing the Virgin River, so it was fitting that we spent the night within feet of the this fork of the river.

If you are visiting Zion National Park, I can recommend this hotel. You can camp in the area too, but I like sleeping in a big king size bed.

Serendipity and photography

FullSizeRender.jpg

Sometimes things so up in your photos that were not part of what you were framing. This is one of those shots. I was trying to capture the clouds and the separation on the larger mountains in the background contrasting with the smaller hills in the foreground. What I didn’t expect was this crow. It really made it a better picture.

I took this just north of Bryce Canyon as we drove to the park.

Strutting it’s stuff ...

IMG_0363.JPG

We had to stop at Wal-Mart in St George to get a couple of personal items. The parking lot was full of cars .. and birds. This guy was nearby, so I took a couple photos.

I loved how he struts. I assume it’s a male .. maybe it’s a strutting female. Perhaps it’s his large feet that makes it so unique. I am sure having a hard time figuring how what it is. I was convinced it was a Black Tern, but I’ve change my mind. The colors are not right. Let me know if you have any ideas.

The GIF below is my  attempt to capture the strut:).

Pronghorn

We saw these  Pronghorn on Antelope Island. It was a tough shot because they were so far away, and their coloring matched the background so well.
