What a beautiful Viceroy Butterfly. It was about to rain so we cut hour hike short. We also so at leaast one Monarch but missed the photo.

This is not the best photo of a Monarch Butterfly. We have seen a few of them, but photo opportunites have been rare this year. I think we followed this one around trying to get a photo for a quarter mile.

This is a Common Wood Nymph Butterfly. We usually see them earlier in the spring. This one landed on the hiking path. I love the rich brown color.
I really wanted to capture a photo with his wings openned but no such luck. Next time!
