Lots Of Color

What a beautiful photo of a Pearl Crescent. The phooto is a little dark but but I really like the colors and depth.

Oh How They Float

Have you every watched a Monarch Butterfly as they fly across the horizon? They are never in a hurry as they 'float' along. Clearly they need to be busy since the season is short, but they keep their presepctive.

In contrast, if you watch a Viceroy Butterfly, they seem to fly much faster with what looks like more intent.

It is interesting to compare the two. Just an observation .. maybe it means more, but it is certainly interesting to watch them both and contrast their flying styles. (The one in the photo is a Monarch).

Red, Spotted, and Some Purple

While hiking earlier this week I saw a swallowtail flying away from my location. I was frustrated that I missed a photo opportunity but then I saw this Red-Spotted Purple. Wow, so beautiful. I guess patience is not one of my strengths.
