No, you are not seeing double. Teresa shot both of these shots. The top was a pair of Red-bellied Woodpeckers, and the second photo is of a pair of male Cardinals. Capturing a photo of a single bird of this size at a signficant distance is difficult due to focus issues, but to get two, in with all the tree noise is extra tough. Well done, Teresa. ~ Rick *** Rick’s latest technology muse: *Check out our vlog, which includes more pictures and video on YouTube at [tales.photos](https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCFQDGQDunrIlKumTDIMUKwg). A Special Bird
As I mentioned a couple days ago, we have seen a large number of cardinals over the past few days. We hiked for weeks without seeing any of them, and then suddenly, they are everywhere we go. This is the same male in two different shots.

Wintering Sparrows
The sparrows are out in numbers this week. I don’t know how much they need to eat to survive this cold weather, but I am glad to be in a warm house.

In Hiding
This is not a great photo, but I was not able to get a clear shot of this cardinal. I saw a couple of them, but no luck with a clear photo. Darn.

Tree Hopping
While we were hiking this week I caught this Blue Jay as he was tree hopping. He kept moving from one tree to the next. I guess he was bored or just cold and needed to move around to stay warm.
