Anyone Hungry?

public.jpeg

We are seeing fewer birds now, or at least it seems we are getting fewer photos. The variety is limited, which happens at this time of year.

I had to share this goldfinch picture that I captured this week. I was only about 15 feet away from him. I was setting in my car. He was so focused on eating that he really didn’t care about me. It was like I was not even there. I think I counted five of them in a 10 foot radius. This was the best photo. They were having a feast.

I Missed!

public.jpeg

I missed. Yes, there was a bird right there. I pulled up the camera, locked the focus, and squeezed the button ... and I missed. I still love this image, but the bird .. she was gone.

Sometimes you take a shot and miss. Many times, it still comes out great. They say that Michael Jordan said this:

“I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” ~ Michael Jordan

I understand ..

You Know That ‘Coo’

public.jpeg

You never have to look for a Mourning Dove .. they announce their presence with that very common ‘coo’. You know the call, “coo-ah coo coo.”

I could hear this one from across the river where we were hiking. She was very happy in the top of this tree.

In The Dark

public.jpeg

This photo is entirely to dark, but that is what I l Iike about it. This is a American Robin. A very common bird. He was hidden away in the trees, and I was behind him, where I took this photo. I could edit it to add brightness and more exposure, but the light makes it more mysterious. I really do like it.

Thinking About Moving

public.jpeg

The finch were very active this week. We are coming into migration season before too long. In fact, some birds start preparing to migrate in July. In September you will see a lot more activity as migration moves into full swing. Get those cameras ready.
