Where Have You Been

FullSizeRender.jpg

We have seen a lot of male cardinals over the last 4 to 5 weeks, but I have not seen many females. The few I have seen have been impossible to photograph. I finally saw a couple and was able to capture this photograph. It was about 25ºF, and Teresa and I were both in the car. We had to stop ... and she didn’t take off. This was a special photo. Maybe she knew it.

A pair of doves

Teresa took this photo while these two Mourning Doves chowed down. I guess they found the corn to much to resist. It was funny, I took a photo fo the same two while they were in a nearby tree .. it was a bad photo. Great photo, dear!

Nature is everywhere

FullSizeRender.jpg

Teresa took this photograph of this field sparrow earlier this week. This was just before the big snowfall a couple nights ago. It was cold as the temperature was just above 0ºF. The hawk that I shared the photo of yesterday was not far from this very spot. We saw a field mouse scurry across the ground about 3 feet to the right of this sparrow. I guess this explains the hawks intense interest in this spot. Nature is everywhere.

A hungry woodpecker

FullSizeRender.jpg

Over the last 15 months, I have stopped at this location many times. The county setup a few bird feeders, but I rarely see birds using them. This time was different. Now that the weather is cold, the birds are there in numbers. This downy woodpecker was taking care of business.

Winter cardinal

IMG_0372.JPG

This is the first ‘good’ cardinal photo I have captured in many months. I have taken a few other photos of cardinals, but they have not been very good.

I was able to get out Sunday afternoon and take a few photos. I didn’t take any video, but several decent photos. That felt really good (and cold). Have a great week.
