Brood What?

These birds are Brown-headed Cowbirds. The Cowbird is a brood parasite. The female deposited their eggs in the nest of other birds of different species. The lighter colored one on the right is a female. Actually, I think the one right above her is also a female. I guess it’s that time of year, even for the cowbird.

By the way, some of the host birds recognize the ‘odd’ egg, and through them out of the nest.

Games in The Clouds

The Robert J Shook Bridge across the Miami River just south of the Farrington Reserve. On the west side of the river, just to the north of the bridge, there is this old tree that seems to be taller than most of the other trees in that area. I have frequently taken photos of birds pitched at this spot. This time was different. These two young squirrels seem to have decide to play games. It was fun watching them. So very high up too! It was like they were playing games in the clouds. 😳

We Have Buds

No, not that kind of bud ... we have blossoms on the trees. I even mowed the lawn yesterday.

Teresa took this photo this week. We had a very busy week, but hope to get back out more this next week. The weather is much better.

I Don’t Think He Can See Me

This was a funny one. I saw this Eastern Bluebird fly into this tree. I guess I spooked him. He didn’t move. I really think he thought I didn’t see him:).

That’s No Bull

Teresa shot several photos of these bullfrogs this week. I love frog legs ... sorry, but I really do. I had to walk away:).
