A hike and a buck

Over the years, I have taken many photos of deer, but rarely males. I was out hiking this week and come on this buck. He didn’t run (he should, for his safety), but just watched me, then went on eating.

I posed a new video too, which included other photos of him, and his girlfriend:). Have a great day.

Hawk day ..

This is a beautiful hawk. I tuned into the drive at Garbry Big Woods Sanctuary and he was setting on the signpost. I’m sure I have photographed this hawk before, but this may be the best photo I have of him/her).

Pileated Woodpecker

The Pileated Woodpecker is large, and has a unique call. This looks like a younger bird, but I found him by listening to him. They are easy to spot when they are flying due to the white in their wings. I have seem them near Garbry Big woods before, but this is the 1st one I have seen near the river in a long time.

I posted a new video yesterday. In addition to a bird each day here, I am posting a video on YouTube with photos and videos from my hikes. This one is shorter than my target length, but it had been raining. I’ll just post it hear .. as I try to figure how to best share them:

Cuckoo ..

I have seen a black-billed cuckoo in this same part of Garbry Big Woods several times. They are always hiding in the trees. They are a cool bird. This one just stayed there for several minutes before moving on.
