A saturated sunset

FullSizeRender.jpg

I captured this sunset in early November, 2017. To obtain this dramatic effect, I used a couple post processing tools. First, I turned up the saturation, then I increase the dynamic range. I love the colors, and how the clouds convey mood. Have a good day!

Nature engaging your senses

FullSizeRender.jpg

I love the sound of water as it flows over rocks. This feature was man made, but when we get a lot of rain, I like to go here. The sounds, smells, and view engages my sense and I feel so alive. Enjoy nature today!

The Bay Bridge and dinner

San Francisco .. The Bay Brdge May 15, 2013

San Francisco .. The Bay Brdge May 15, 2013

I took this picture just before dinner while on a business trip. I was standing near The Slanded Door, a Vietnamese restaurant. The Ferry Building is immediately to my right and that’s Yerba Buena Island. The Bay Bridge is actually a complex of bridges that span the bay.

The bicycle ... I have no idea who owned it, but it didn’t have a seat. I don’t know if that was part of a theft prevention strategy, or something else.

I enjoyed the view, the food, and an evening with good friends. So much of life happens around food. I am not even a fan of Vietnamese cuisine, but I cherish having dinner with friends. Priceless.

The miracle of healing

FullSizeRender.jpg

I am one week post a radical prostatectomy. My surgery was the day before Thanksgiving, 2017. My body is cancer free, and is healing.

Surviving cancer is not all physical. Attitude, mindset .. the mental stuff really matters. Not long after I was diagnosed, I had a conversation with someone that left me so deflated. There is no need to waste energy on that type of influence.

I am healing from the cancer, and healing from the surgery. The bodies ability to heal and renew is amazing. Perhaps healing is not so much about the physical process we call healing, and more about the mental healing that needs to occur.

I like this quote:

"Healing may not be so much about getting better, as about letting go of everything that isn't you - all of the expectations, all of the beliefs - and becoming who you are." ~ Rachel Naomi Remen

Enjoy the day!

Woodpecker on the hunt

FullSizeRender.jpg

A woodpecker, on the hunt for insects. That constant pounding would give me a headache, but it is a way of life for the woodpecker. The tapping is not just how they hunt, it is also how the woodpecker excavate nest cavities in trees.

This was taken early one morning at Kiser Lake State Park. It was late in the fall, and the mist coming off the lake was beautiful.
