Super Spider Dude

public.jpeg

I saw several large spiders this week while hiking. This was a very large dude. Teresa caught one having lunch, but the focus was off. This one is a little dark, but not too bad.

Two Butterflies and a Wasp

public.jpeg

I could not have planned for this shot. Two butterflies, and a wasp, one flower .. how cool is that.

The yellow butterfly is a Clouded Sulphur. I will post an update once I confirm the second butterfly. I don’t have much to add about the wasp. He was not invited, but came to the party anyway.

Good Grip

I love this photo. Look at the details on how this dragonfly is holding onto the blade of grass. So very cool.

I cropped the photo and posted the result so you can see the details on his legs .. just so amazing.

This web page has some really cool facts about the dragonfly.

Ebony Jewelwing

public.jpeg

This is a Ebony Jewelwing (Calopteryx maculata). This is a Damselfly photo that Teresa captured recently.

I have a hard time keeping track of all the different species of Dragonfly and Damselfly. If you want to learn more, and sharpen your identification skills, check out this page on Dragonflies and Damselflies.

Buggy Eyes

public.jpeg

This is a female blue tail damselfly. The blue color is beautiful. We see dozens, maybe hundreds of them when we hike along the river, but rarely get a photo as good as this one. Teresa usually gets the best shot of these beautiful creatures, and this is one of her photos. Very well done.
