Beauty From The Shadows

Another very different photo of a cardinal. I saw him land in this tree not far from where I was standing. He begin to sing. It was beautiful: only matched by the brilliance of his color and the shadows created but the sun.

I did not expect to capture a good photo due to the lighting. I am delighted with how this photo came out. So much beauty in the shadows.

The ‘Other’ Red Bird

Teresa captured these photos of a Scarlet Tanager during a hike this week. We both managed to get a few photos, but I think her pictures were much better. This is a male. The non-breeding males are more olive in color. The females are that same olive color, almost yellow.

Let’s Chat

This is a Yellow-breasted Chat. I have photographed a Chat in the past, but this one decided to play games. He was singing from his hiding place in the trees when we came along. I would whistle back; he would respond. Finally, he came out to see who he was chatting with, and I took this photo. Fun.
