Another Moon Shot ... 🌝

Teresa shot this photo of the Moon behind the trees during a recent hike. This is a very cool photo. I love taking photos of the Moon but I didn’t get this one:).

Moonset

Adjustments.jpeg

The weather has been beautiful and we have been able to take photo hikes almost daily. Some days we do not see any wildlife. Then you have days like this one last week where we saw several beautiful birds, turtles and other cool creatures.

This day was extra cool because as we approached this fishing pond, we saw this amazing moonset. It was a beautiful sight. If you know me well, you know that after birds and landscapes, taking photos of the moon is one of my favorite photographs. Well, this photo is a combination of the two. The moon was in this exact position, but to get the size, I did some photo-magic. Enjoy.

Night Photography

public.jpeg

This past weekend the view of the moon was amazing. I wanted to share this photo I took this with my iPhone at 5:35A The framing was not perfect, but it was very dark at this early hour.

I am very impressed with the night photo mode on my new iPhone. I previously blogged about this feature here. It is so amazing.

Look at the photo above. You can even see the clouds in the night sky. This is computational photography at its best. Very impressive.

So, what does that mean? In this case, the iPhone collects image data from three lens. That data is sampled many times for a longer period of time. This photo was sampled over a 10 second window. This is not a long exposure image .. it is several photos that are merged over time to create a final image. Kind of amazing. It’s still a night shot, but you get something very different.

The second photo was taken mintues later with my big boy camera (my DLSR camera with my sigma 600mm lens). A very differnet type of photo.

The Morning Moon

If you follow this photo journal, you know that I have a thing about taking photos of the moon. We were hiking a little later than normal one morning this week when I saw that the lighting was just right, and the moon was big and beautiful. Frankly, this is not my best photos of the moon, but it was still very cool. I just wanted to share a few photos.

The Daytime Moon

FullSizeRender.jpg

I took this photo about an hour before sunset on February 13, 2019. The moon was so beautiful. Most of my moon photos I capture are of a full moon, but this shot made me happy. Great color, and rich details.

By the way, if you look up in the night sky you may get a view of the ‘supermoon’. We have one more supermoon this year, and that is on March 20. This one will be the last of three in 2019.

You can read more about this years supermoon trifecta here.
