Warbler

FullSizeRender.jpg

I believe this is a pine warbler. I could be wrong, so if you believe I am incorrect, please let me know. I took the photo on the bike trail, south of Piqua, Ohio. It was a cooler morning, and I saw more variety of birds than I have seen for the last few weeks. Cooler weather seems to bring out more birds in the mornings.

Blue Jay paradise?

FullSizeRender.jpg

Teresa took the Blue Jay photo above while we were hiking last Friday. I took the second photo. I don’t know that I have ever seen more Blue Jays in one spot. We saw several. They all ran when the crows showed up.

Curious Cardinal

While we were at Hocking Hills on Friday, we found a great place to sit and watch the birds. This female cardinal was serious about checking us out.

The second photo was taken on a picnic table as she hopped around .. I guess this was her best long jump😬.

I also took a photo of her in flight. This one is not as good (quality is low). But here it is.

Black-billed Cuckoo

FullSizeRender.jpg

I believe this is a Black-billed Cuckoo. A big shotout to Dyna for helping me with this one. The photo was not very helpful since have the body is not visible. I think that is what I like about it most .. she is so well hidden.

She looks grey, but I believe that is actually brown. Lighting can change a photo! The photo below was taken near the same location, but the lighting was different and the birds was at a different angle, relative to the sun. Brown .. and I think this too is a cuckoo. Maybe. That beak does not look the same, maybe :).

Let’s make some noise

FullSizeRender.jpg

I was walking the bike trail in one of my normal spots along the Miami River when I heard this interesting bird call. I had heard it before, but I was not able to place it. As I approached the bridge over the river, I saw this Green Heron in a tree on the other size of the river. He was making a lot of noise. I did get a shot of him as he flew away.
