A race with a Blue Heron

Great Blue Heron

Great Blue Heron

A few years ago, Teresa and I went to a picnic with some friends from work. As part of the activities, we took a boat ride on Lake Lakengren. As we were making a turn, I saw this Great Blue Heron heading our way. As we accelerated, it flies right up beside us. It was beautiful. I captured a few photos, and then said our goodbyes as it few off into the distance.

Like the photo yesterday, this was taken at the Newport aquarium. I would love to see this bird in it’s natural habitat. The colors are stunning. Sounds like something to add to the bucket list.

If you, like me have wondered where the phrase, ‘Polly want a cracker’ came from, here you go.

Silence and nature

My guess is that if yout take. a two minute walk, you will see a sparrow. They are very common here in Ohio. I love how she blends into the tree and becomes part of the scene. I didn’t even see her at first. There is something to be said for silence, including seeing nature. It’s all around you!
