New on Old

We saw this nest at Big Woods this week. There is actually an older nest, likely from last year, with new material put on top. I assume someone is moving in, and wanted a remodel. The open house will be later this fall.

A winter day in autumn

I took this photo from the banks of Lake Huron this past September. We were enjoying our drive north into Michigan, and stopped to capture a few photographs, including this cool shot.

This photo feels cold to me. It has such great color, and includes so much context and details. A beach, lake, blue sky and those clouds are amazing. Does it look cold to you?

It is funny how our memories are triggered by photos from the past. Perhaps if I didn’t have such a vivid memory of that day, I would not see the ‘cold’ in the photo. It was windy and cold. It was a autumn day, but it felt like winter!

More winter on the way

This river is extremely high and has flooded the trails where I frequently hike. This photo was taken a couple weeks ago. We were out yesrtday and I could not get to the places where I normally hike due to the high water. Temperatures are heading back down too, so get ready for a cold week.

It’s time

New life

I think I have written about this before, but it always amazing me how nature recycles the old to bring new life. A down tree is a great example. How appropriate for a new year.

I did a little hiking and made a video yesterday .. enjoy!
