Ladder-backed Woodpecker ..

This Ladder-backed Woodpecker was working on the trees along the Miami River.  I could hear her for a mile, it just took me some time to find her.

Sometimes you have to invest in the search, but it’s worth it.

One journey ends, another begins

Its a sunrise ... not a sunset.

Its a sunrise ... not a sunset.

I started my professional career on June 12, 1978 at Hobart Corporation. Today I will end this chapter of my career as I retire. I have enjoyed by time at Henny Penny. Overall, I have been so fortunate to work with amazing people, and to work on some great products. I have visited amazing places, and seen amazing things. What a ride.

So what’s next? I really don’t like the word, retire. It feels so final. While I will not be getting up to drive to work every morning, I certainly don’t plan to let life pass me by while I snooze. I blogged about my plans related to photography. That will certainly be a significant part of the future.

I also have this burning passion for technology and I plan to do something in this area. What that looks like is not clear. I plan to attend CES 2018 and begin the process of understanding how it all ties together. I love to search out trends, and uncover how technology interfaces with people. I love developing people. I love strategy. It’s just not clear how it all ties together in the short term. I know I want to write a book, and even have one in mind. So, we will see.

There will be new photos, with new tales every day. We will be taking lots of photos in Nevada and Utah soon, and then on to other places.

Enjoy every moment ... life is a ride!

A big Turkey, not for consumption ...

363EA252-7108-457F-A3DD-8B0EB9D5824B.JPG

I was going to share this photo on Thanksgiving day, but due to a distraction, I forgot. This old bird looks to be safe from any kitchen table. I took this picture several years ago when we had family in town for their vacation. Kids and nature are a natural paring. The kids love the animals. I’m not sure the animals love the kids, at least not all the time.

This reminds me of my 16th birthday. That year, my birthday happen to be on Thanksgiving Day. A few days before the holiday, a turkey showed up in our yard. She didn’t look healthy, but there she was. No, we didn’t do it ... and it was a long time before the bird disappeared. I often wondered which neighbor ... never mind. In the meantime, there was no shortage of jokes about the turkey showing up for my birthday.

Sunset over the Mediterranean

FullSizeRender.jpg

On one of my of my many trips to Israel, I captured this sunset over the Mediterranean. The view there is always amazing. The hotel where I stayed was right behind me, so I use to Skype with my father from my room, and show him this view. Memories ... some of the best!
