This old barn ..

I have a number of pictures of old barns across Ohio. Some are in bad shape, but they all have a story to tell. I’d like to publish a book on some of the more interesting stories and photos of barns. I may get to that.

This one is on the bike path just north of the Tipp City Park in, you guessed it, Tipp City, Ohio.

The mobile phone ... I mean camera.

At one time or another, I think we have all been told, “The best camera is the one you have with you.” Most of the photos I take these days are on my iPhone. Yes, I use my DSLR for what I will call ‘serious photography’, but I capture amazing photos with my iPhone. Editing photos on a mobile device has improved as well, making the need for large cameras and computers less relevant.

It was not that long ago when the cell phone camera was just a toy. Mobile photography has advanced faster than most point-and-shoot technology. It’s amazing to think how far computational photography has come. I ran across this NatGeo article today and it reminded me how far mobile cameras have come .. enjoy.

Clouds, rain, people ...

Clouds over Piqua and the Great Miami River

Clouds over Piqua and the Great Miami River

The weather has shifted and is more ‘fall’ like in western Ohio this week. I took this after a day of heavy rain. I could not help looking at the clouds and think about the people in Texas. Hurricane Harvey has been so destructive, and now we have another big storm in the Atlantic. In the end, we can talk about the weather, but it’s really all about the people. Support them in whatever way you can!

Photos, memories and feelings ..

“Photos bring back memories and memories bring back feelings” ~unknown

Photography can be fun, but memories are priceless. When I look at photos of my grandchildren, such as this one, I feel the photo .. and the memories that it bring back. I have thousands of photos, but photos such as this one are priceless.

This is my youngest granddaughter. I have 6 of them, and I love every one of them. Photography is an extension of the memory, and I love how it makes me feel. You don’t have to be an expert to take a picture that will melt the heart! Enjoy!!!

Leaving the old behind ... Cicada

Neotibicen linne (Cicada)

I took this with my iphone while on a walk last Sunday. The fence post in front of a neighbors home had a dozen or so of these empty shells. I think they were all on the corners, just like these two. Nature is kind of amazing.
