New Gear and videography

I purchased a new camera. It is called the DJI Osmo Pocket. The Osmo Pocket uses the same technology that is used for the camera on my Drone to stabilize the built in camera and create stable images and video. It incorporates a very small, 3-axis gimbal and some amazing technology to adjust for external motion, say for example walking or running. The 1st review I saw of the device was this one by iJustine. It’s a great review so check it out!

I took a hike along the Miami river at one of my most favorite spots yesterday and tried out many of the features of this device. I was very impressed. I will write more about it over on my more technical blog (rickcartwright.com). For now, here is the video I shot using the DJI Osmo Pocket. There is only one image from my DSLR. The birds were all him hiding.

A White Christmas

Alone with friends

Have you ever felt alone when you are with friends? I think this is an apple. If all you have is the photo above, you wold think it was just one that survived and is left in the tree. The reality is in the second photo. Too often people draw conclusions without all the facts. It happens, really. :)

Beautiful blue butterfly

Another butterfly photo from a butterfly walks earlier this summer. I love the blues and blacks of this amazing butterfly. It was on the banks fo the Stillwater River. I think we saw one like this every time we hiked in this spot. The come here for water. Such a beautiful creature.

A summer or a winter hike?

This is the falls at Ricks Creek. We have hiked there before, but it was about 85ºF, and there was no snow. My son, Tim, swears it was an easier hike with all the now. I can’t see how.

I didn’t use any long exposure trips on these photos .. just a couple shots of the very cold water, and the beautiful rocks. If you look close, there is a drop of water on my lens. 😳
