The hunter .. The Osprey

We hiked at Eastwood MetroPark. When we arrived, there was a gentleman with a good bird lens looking at the trees. As it turns out, he was watching this Osprey. What a pleasant surprise. I took several photos, but never did get a great photo. The photos above are the best I was able to capture. Very cool.

The Osprey are a fish eater .. so it was not a surprise to see him here. I have been told that a pair of eagles show up frequently too. I didn’t see them while we were there.

In search of breakfast

Teresa and I saw this hawk while driving down the road. I didn’t get the picture right then, but saw her again and was in a better place to capture this photo. I saw her again the next day.

This hawk seems to hunt the same area most days. I have seen her grab prey at least once. She is an amazing hunter.

Hawk day ..

This is a beautiful hawk. I tuned into the drive at Garbry Big Woods Sanctuary and he was setting on the signpost. I’m sure I have photographed this hawk before, but this may be the best photo I have of him/her).

I want to be heard ...

This hawk was very vocal. It was a Sunday morning, and there was a pair of hawks in the trees at Big Woods Sanctuary. I tried to record it, but it did not turn out. It was very cool to watch them. The female did not respond, she just flew to a different tree. I guess she was ignoring him.

Just scope out dinner

This is one of the best photos I have taken of a hawk this year. I took a couple photos from a longer distance Incase she took off, then moved much closer and took this photo. What a beautiful bird.
