A Must Share!

I interrupt this string of wildlife (mostly bird) photographs to share this amazing image directly from Mother Nature. Sometimes a photo just demands to be taken. This was to beatiful to not share. Have a great day.

The Falling Leaves

Even the trails are becoming covered with the falling leaves. Teresa took this photos and they clearly show the changing season. Fall is here in a big way and snow is not far off. That makes me sad.

Out Of Range?

Adjustments.jpeg

I don’t think I have shared this story before. I was flying my drone and wanted to get this photo of the colors that were about a half mile off the road. I flew the drone back toward the tree line but before it could get close enough for the photo I had a message pop up saying that the drone was at the end of its range. That was nuts .. this thing can fly a lot further than that. I know, because I have done it.

Well, I shot these photos anyway, but later I found a settling that was incorrect. It will not happen again:).

What If …

Teresa and I hiked at Stillwater Prairie Reserve this week. I shot these photos with my drone. As you can see, especially in the second photo, we are starting to see some color. Its still late this year. I have noticed the walnut trees have lost their leaves, but most of the trees are still green.

On a different topic: I am not trying to make a political statement with this story. Clearly, by the number there has been a decline in some bird species. This is a sad read: Climate change threatens hundreds of North American bird species with extinction, study says.

So, what do the photos have to do with this issue? The migration is almost complete. I saw a few birds, but mostly of the non-migratory variety. It was so quiet. It made me think, what if it was like this year around .. and the birds of summer were not around. That would be sad.

Stretching for the clouds

FullSizeRender.jpg

The trees seemed to stand extra tall this week. Perhaps this is because the fall foliage is slowly giving way to a more bare, natural look. The trees appear to be reaching for the sky, and while they are rooted to the earth, they continue to stretch out to the heavens.

I was talking to a friend about my goal of spending some time ‘living’ in Italy. Not indefinitely ... we have grandchildren here, and we love seeing them as often as possible. This would be long enough to experience the culture in a deep, meaningful way. My good friend commented that this was out of reach. I suppose the trees could feel that way too, and never reach for lofty goals in the clouds.

I was once told that Confucius said, “If you shoot for the stars and hit the moon, it’s OK. But you’ve got to shoot for something. A lot of people don’t even shoot.” Think big!
